St. Louis, MO—Gospel Trip, Report 5

January 25

After lunch with the saints, we had a time of games and singing with the young people and a new student from University of Missouri, St. Louis (UMSL). This is our third contact with her and she was so happy to be with us. Our prayer is that she would be remaining fruit!

January 28

The saints and trainees have been shepherding the students at the University of Missouri, St. Louis (UMSL) and co-laboring with Bibles for America by tabling at the student center. One student prayed to receive the Lord. We have been encouraged that the Lord is answering our prayers to connect our contacts with the local saints.

Statistics:

  • Tracts: 176
  • Bibles: 25

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the young people to be shepherded and impressed with a positive view of the Full-Time Training in Anaheim.
  • That the Lord would keep the UMSL student who joined us at the young people’s time by attaching her to Christ and the church.
  • For 10 to become remaining fruit on UMSL.

January 23

This was our last day of the week laboring at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The trainees were again going out twos and threes with much prayers. Our aim was to welcome more than 20 students to come to the campus meeting. There were many positive responses with students passing by the Bibles for America table, and many conversations and appointments were released.

Through cooperating with Him, through faith, and the saints’ desperate prayer, three students joined the campus meeting. Although it was fewer than expected, the atmosphere of the campus meeting was cheerful.

January 24

Today, we went to the University of Washington in St. Louis (WashU) to preach the gospel. Our burden was also to cherish the students who regularly attend church meetings by spending time with them. During the campus time, some of us had appointments with our students or contacts, while others were going out to preach the gospel.

In the evening we had a small group meeting at a local couple’s house. Three of our new contacts from UMSL came, one of whom was also present at the campus meeting, and they enjoyed the meeting very much. We had dinner together and sang some hymns. We praise the Lord for such a sweet conclusion of this week’s labor.

Statistics:

  • Tracts distributed: 133
  • Appointments: 5

Prayer Burdens:

  • That the Lord will open up WashU more for the gospel.
  • For our students in WashU to be preserved on campus and perfected in the church life, and that many of them would go to FTTA.
  • That the Lord will keep the contacts coming back, and that they would become remaining fruit for the church in St. Louis.

In coordination, we pray-read Colossians 1:12, 2:6-7 and a passage concerning being burdened with the Spirit of gospel. Our strategy of going to campus is to focus on the open students, so we should exercise our discernment while approaching them. During the children’s meeting in the afternoon, together with serving sisters, we hosted a total of 21 children in all levels. In addition, a few parents joined also. We sang songs about responsibility and respect. We had three stations, which included scrabble, a memory challenge, and marshmallow and toothpicks games. It ended with a sardines game and the children were picked up by their families.

January 22

The Lord gave us multiple follow-up appointments today, and our feeling is that these contacts are really becoming beloved to us. Besides these appointments, we continued tabling, distributing Bibles, and contacting more students at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). We are encouraged that the majority of students are friendly and open to talking with us. However, we pray that the Lord would bring the key seeking ones to us in our short time here.

In the evening, we had a precious time with the saints in their homes. It is very apparent (and such a pattern to us) that in the midst of their ordinary days Christ and the church are the real center and meaning of their lives.

Statistics:

  • Bibles distributed: 16
  • Saved: 1

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the key seeking ones to be reached and many follow-up appointments to be released.
  • For the ones with whom we have followed up to get connected to the local saints in St. Louis.

Statistics:

  • Total of contacts: 36 people

Prayer Burdens:

  • Please pray for 10 remaining fruit in St. Louis.
  • Pray to release second and third contacts until they are fully open to campus meeting on Thursday.
