Richmond, VA—Gospel Trip, Report 7

We praise the Lord for the time He gave us in Richmond! Over the past two weeks, we participated in a blended work of fellowship, prayer, care, and coordination on six different campuses in Virginia, with 31 saints coming from different parts of the east coast, (not counting the eight trainees.)

During the second week of the trip, we split up into two teams and visited the saints in Newport News, Virginia Beach, and Charlottesvillle. It was a joy to eat the Lord, fellowship, pray and labor with them! We came back to Richmond on Thursday night and enjoyed a college meeting filled with flowing rivers of water of life! On Friday we had follow up appointments and various home meetings with new students. Our week ended with a young people’s singing time on Saturday evening. The YP brought two friends who came for the first time. We were very encouraged by how much these young people love to sing to the Lord! Even their friends were ushered into the enjoyment. One of the friends exclaimed “Hallelujah!” after we declared the line: “Drink! A river pure and clear!”

Thank you all for your prayers during this time! We were all richly supplied throughout the trip, and the Lord really brought in His blessing.

Total Stats:

  • 687 Bibles distributed
  • 4561 gospel tracts and free Bible offer cards passed out
  • 730 people contacted
  • 6 prayed to receive the Lord
  • 23 second appointments
  • 10 regular appointments

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the serving ones and saints in Richmond to be supplied to take care of the new ones after the trainees leave
  • That many of the ones contacted in these two weeks would be shepherded into the church life

Thank you all for your prayers! This last weekend we had our mini-conference on the gospel of John! There were four messages given. After the first three (on Saturday) we divided up into groups to fellowship about the sharing with the help of the Recovery Version with footnotes. On Lord’s day, we first had the table meeting, followed by the fourth message and a time of overflow. There were four college/new brothers who attended the mini-conference and seven college sisters. Many of them attended the Lord’s table meeting as well, and some of the sisters spent all of Saturday and Lord’s day with the saints!

This week, we split up into two teams. One will be in Charlottesville at the UVA campus, and the other will be in Newport News and Virginia Beach handing out Bible offers and ministry books. We will reunite in Richmond this Thursday.

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the follow up with the ones contacted in Richmond last week, that they could receive the proper shepherding and be brought into the church life
  • For our sowing this week in the different cities, that the Lord could find many sons of peace and feed many of His hungry ones
  • For the health and supply of the serving ones, that we would be freshly supplied by the Lord each morning and that He would supply life to our mortal bodies

We are very encouraged! Today was our last day of sowing on the VCU campus and in the city of Richmond. However, we still met many open students and people from the community. This evening we had a home meeting at the brothers’ house next to campus and three new sisters who we met this week attended, as well as three freshman brothers who have been meeting with the club since the beginning of the school year. One of the new sisters expressed that she felt very at home with us and had found her community, and one of the brothers said that he felt the same way being with us!

Tomorrow and Lord’s day we will have a mini-conference at the VCU campus. We have been inviting many of those we met this week to this time, and will be covering the topic of Life Meeting Every Man’s Case in the Gospel of John!

Prayer Burdens:

  • That the Lord would bless the mini-conference this weekend, that there would be much rich fellowship and that the Lord would draw many new ones to Himself.
  • For follow-up appointments with those we met this week, that we could establish good connections with these ones and they could be remaining fruit.

Statistics to Date:

  • 4335 gospel tracts
  • 470 Bibles
  • 444 people contacted
  • 5 prayed
  • 21 second appointments
  • 1 regular appointment

Thank you for you prayers!

Thank you for your prayers! The Lord is surely moving in Richmond. Yesterday, we continued our sowing labor on the campus and in the community. We’ve also had some sweet second appointments with students who are seeking and hungry for fellowship with other believers. The Lord sovereignly brought them to us, and we believe that there are still more He wants to reach. At the end of the night, we had a glorious group fellowship in a home. We sang with open hearts and released spirits to the Lord, and afterwards listened to a word about God’s eternal purpose! When it came time for the students to respond in their smaller groups, their sharing showed that many of them saw something of God’s economy. Praise the Lord! He is faithfully operating. We cooperate, and He completes the work He has prepared.

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the Lord to continue sowing, releasing 2nd appointments, and establishing strong connections with key contacts
  • That many would attend this weekend’s seminar on the book of John and be satisfied with God’s life
  • For all the saints to continue in the labor, while resting in His presence and enjoying His rich grace

Statistics:

  • 540 gospel tracts
  • 66 Bibles
  • 76 people contacted
  • 5 second appointments

Thank you all for your prayers and for standing with us as we labor in Richmond. We had a sweet time passing out Bibles, tracts, and seminar flyers at VCU and at city hall today! We also began to have appointments with those we met during our distributions these past two days. It is so encouraging to see the hungry seekers that the Lord has sovereignly with connected us. Today, we had two people come up to the table to receive a Bible and say sincerely, “I need this”. We also had two home meetings this evening that were filled with much singing, prayer and fellowship!

Prayer Burdens:

  • That the Lord would bless all the follow-up contact and shepherding.
  • That the Lord would bring many tomorrow to the college group fellowship meeting.
  • That no one would be burnt out but each one would take the Lord as their constant supply.

Statistics:

  • Tracts distributed: 932
  • Bibles distributed: 118
  • People contacted: 125
  • Second appointments: 4

Praise the Lord for all that He has been doing in Richmond, especially on VCU’s (Virginia Commonwealth University) campus! Today was our second day passing out free Bibles and tracts to those on the campus and in the community. Through our distribution of over 1100+ tracts and 110 Bibles today alone, we could really see that there was a deep thirst in the city for something real—Christ!

Two of the students we met yesterday while preaching the gospel joined the Bible study on campus today! As we were reading chapter 2 of John, we really saw that the Lord isn’t satisfied with moral regulations and self-reform, but that He came to change death into life.

Statistics for 1/28:

Tracts distributed: 1103
Bibles distributed: 110
People contacted: 107
Prayed to receive the Lord: 1
Appointments: 1

Prayer Burdens:

  1. Each one who received a Bible or a tract would take the time to read it.
  2. Many of our new contacts would join the college meeting on Thursday night and the mini conference on the gospel of John this coming weekend!
  3. The Lord would keep the trainees and local saints healthy during this time, especially as the weather continues to cool down.
