Pearland/The Woodlands TX—Gospel Trip, Report 3

February 4, 2019

As we enter the last week in the Houston area, we have completed our time in Pearland and made our way up to The Woodlands. During our time in Pearland, over 600 homes were visited while door-knocking with local saints. We thank and praise the Lord for our time in Pearland and continue praying for follow up contact.

2/1/19
Our first day in The Woodlands we visited and blended with the local saints and entered into their burden. Due to the nature of the geography of the North Houston area, many saints in The Woodlands are fairly spread out, taking on average to 45 minutes to meet with the nearest saint. It really shows the effort required to have a home meeting, and the limitations due to distance. For this reason, they are burdened for vital groups to formed and for their neighborhoods to be gained.

2/2/19
Our first day on the gospel in The Woodlands we distributed Bibles for America door hangers with a packaged baggie containing a greeting card and a rainbow booklet. Over 200 homes received door hangers throughout the Jacobs reserve and Fosters Ridge communities.

In the evening we joined a blended young people’s meeting, where we enjoyed making and eating over 600 dumplings. We also enjoyed getting into the ministry book, Lesson Book, Level 4: Life—Knowing and Experiencing Life, and seeing the two kinds of fruit that is produced out of the divine life being dispensed in us. It was a wonderful experience blending with the young people and hearing the overflow of their enjoyment.

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the saints to be connected and blended to together in their region
  • For the saints to be able to contact and connect with their neighbors and to enter into a daily gospel living
  • For the vital groups to be established in each of the five areas in the North Houston area including West Spring, Central Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, and Northeast Houston

Today, we had the opportunity to participate in two wonderful gatherings. The first was a Community Bible Seminar & Luncheon organized by a brother who meets in Fairfax. Over the last year, this brother began to publish articles of the ministry in a local magazine, Lifestyle, that goes out to residences and local businesses in the towns of Haymarket and Gainesville, which are newly developed areas bordering Manassas. Through the monthly publishing of these articles, the brother was contacted by a local businessman’s Bible study group and began to meet with them on a weekly basis. The second to last issue of the magazine invited readers to attend a Bible Seminar and Luncheon, which happened today. There were more than 20 in attendance, including saints and those who were contacted through this publication and through the men’s study group. The topic for this seminar was “The Assurance, Security, and Joy of Salvation.” It was encouraging to be at this event and to see some of the “reaping” from the ministry. We were even able to speak & give Bibles to the staff who served our lunch! This was a new experience for us and we learned a lot from seeing the saints’ endeavor to reach people in new ways.

Tonight, we had dinner and a blending meeting with the young people from D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland at the meeting hall in Dunn Loring. After singing together, we each shared our testimony with the young people and their parents, then opened the time for questions regarding the training. May the Lord win the heart of each young person for His purpose!

Prayer Burdens:

  • For A’s baptism tomorrow. She is a GMU student contacted through the club.
  • That the Lord would gain more local Christians through the ministry publications and that some of them would be brought into the church life
  • For our distribution on Monday at the NOVA Manassas campus
  • That the NOVA students contacted would be free to attend our connect event on Tuesday, especially the three who came last Thursday

The six teams are continually going strong to spread the gospel to the different campuses and neighborhoods. Throughout the week, some teams have been going to the University of Toronto-Mississauga and McMaster University, York University, and Seneca College. We’ve been having Bible studies and appointments in all the colleges with existing and new contacts. With the seminar coming up, the teams passed out over 3,086 invitations, 270 free Bibles. In addition, 11 people prayed to receive the Lord!

Yesterday, we went to home meetings. With many children, the trainees held their own miniature neighborhood children’s meeting. It was an ecstatic time with all the saints praising and enjoying the Lord together.

Prayer Burdens:

  • That at least 50 new ones would come to the seminar on this Saturday!
  • The weather this coming Saturday for the seminar would be warm to not hinder anyone from coming
  • All those who have been contacted would be open for further contact

This past week we spent several hours contacting the students at Stanford giving them Bibles and inviting them to the Bible study. On Thursday night, we had 25 students come, 11 of whom it was their first time. The Lord blessed our five loaves and two fish.

It was encouraging to witness what the Lord can do with so little. Some of the ones who came are very open for further contact and are strongly seeking the Lord and for the church.

Please pray for the Lord to have a way to satisfy their seeking spirit. Our plan is to contact these ones again before next week’s Bible study. However, the burden is that there would be a way to establish regular contact with these students. Without more full-time serving ones that is a challenge. May the Lord have a way to conquer this campus.
