Airdrie, AB—Gospel Trip, Report 4

February 4th and 5th

On Tuesday, we met our goal and distributed 12 Bibles at the university of Calgary. Tuesday night we had a full house of college students in Airdrie. We had 28 college students in attendance. There were over 40 people including the trainees and other serving ones. We enjoyed learning how to experience Christ as the barley and wheat. The unlimited Christ supplies us while we go through limiting situations.

Today, half of us went to the University of Calgary to be in the student coordination and to have appointments with students. The other half of the trainees had Bible distribution at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Within the first 30 minutes of tabling, they had passed out 60 Bibles. By the end, they passed out 172 Bibles. Our goal for the entire two weeks was 200 bibles and it was almost accomplished in one day! Praise the Lord.

The college students and the young people have been so sweet in expressing their appreciation for our visitation. Although it feels like we haven’t done much, it seems the Lord has taken our portion and blessed it. Seeing them encouraged has encouraged us.

Prayer Burdens:

  • For our time in Lethbridge with the saints and young people.
  • For each one of the recipients of the Bibles at SAIT and UofC so that they would be hungry to read the Word.
  • For the strengthening of the students at both SAIT and UofC to be able to take care of the ones who want further contact. There is an overwhelming amount of contacts and not enough manpower to meet the need. May the Lord supply and sustain our own students.
  • For the high school seniors at Airdrie as they finish their last semester. Pray that the Lord would guide them and strengthen them in their going on as they move on to their next stage in life.

Monday, February 3

We had coordination at the campus house in the morning before heading out to campus for tabling. We first began our time together with a hymn, “Loving You, Lord’s all I’m living for”. We prayed that we would allow the Lord to have the first place in everything today, even in our tabling. We were reminded that Christ must be the centrality and universality in everything we do. Then, we had a time of prayer, mentioning our contacts by name before the Lord and standing together with the saints in China who are affected by the current situation. In the afternoon, we tabled again at the student union. A lady came to our table hoping to grab a Bible for her niece, but after we explained to her how to use the study Bible, she got a Bible for herself too.

One of the highlights of today was meeting student J. The brothers met him twice while out giving out flyers and, due to his afternoon classes being cancelled, he was free and they led him to the table where he met all the other saints. He was unexpectedly very comfortable, open, genuine, and seeking, and ended up being engaged in conversation with us for close to two hours! J is a Christian, is local, and recently returned to start a Masters program. He shared his testimony and recent enjoyment in the Scriptures with us. We found out that he is looking for a Christian community on campus, such as a club like ours. At the end, we exchanged numbers and arranged to meet for lunch the next day.

Tuesday, February 4

We started the day at the campus house with coordination as usual. During coordination, we enjoyed the Lord by singing, praying and reading a chapter of The Age of the One New Man. Then we mentioned the ones that we are meeting today so the appointments could be covered in prayer. After coordination, we headed off to tabling at the University of Minnesota Minneapolis campus and the St. Paul campus.

Student J, whom the brothers met yesterday, came for lunch and spent an hour and a half hours engaged with the brothers. He was still open and genuine with us and we learned more about him and his relationship with the Lord. We realized that J is a dear and precious brother who loves the Lord and is serious about knowing the Lord, studying the Word, pursuing the truth, and having a proper Christian walk. At the end, we invited him for the upcoming seminar on Thursday, as well as for dinner and board games on Friday and he said he would come for both! Praise the Lord for this open and seeking one!

Statistics (for the last two days):

  • Flyers: 490
  • Tracts: 400
  • Bibles: 4
  • Contacted: 11
  • Second appointments: 3
  • Prayed/Called: 1

Prayer Burdens:

  • Pray for the Bible study Wednesday night and the seminar Thursday night, that the Lord would bring His seeking ones.
  • Pray for all the positive contacts, particularly students J and R, to be remaining fruit.

February 5, 2020

Thank you all for your prayers! This last weekend we had our mini-conference on the gospel of John! There were four messages given. After the first three (on Saturday) we divided up into groups to fellowship about the sharing with the help of the Recovery Version with footnotes. On Lord’s day, we first had the table meeting, followed by the fourth message and a time of overflow. There were four college/new brothers who attended the mini-conference and seven college sisters. Many of them attended the Lord’s table meeting as well, and some of the sisters spent all of Saturday and Lord’s day with the saints!

This week, we split up into two teams. One will be in Charlottesville at the UVA campus, and the other will be in Newport News and Virginia Beach handing out Bible offers and ministry books. We will reunite in Richmond this Thursday.

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the follow up with the ones contacted in Richmond last week, that they could receive the proper shepherding and be brought into the church life
  • For our sowing this week in the different cities, that the Lord could find many sons of peace and feed many of His hungry ones
  • For the health and supply of the serving ones, that we would be freshly supplied by the Lord each morning and that He would supply life to our mortal bodies

We are very encouraged! Today was our last day of sowing on the VCU campus and in the city of Richmond. However, we still met many open students and people from the community. This evening we had a home meeting at the brothers’ house next to campus and three new sisters who we met this week attended, as well as three freshman brothers who have been meeting with the club since the beginning of the school year. One of the new sisters expressed that she felt very at home with us and had found her community, and one of the brothers said that he felt the same way being with us!

Tomorrow and Lord’s day we will have a mini-conference at the VCU campus. We have been inviting many of those we met this week to this time, and will be covering the topic of Life Meeting Every Man’s Case in the Gospel of John!

Prayer Burdens:

  • That the Lord would bless the mini-conference this weekend, that there would be much rich fellowship and that the Lord would draw many new ones to Himself.
  • For follow-up appointments with those we met this week, that we could establish good connections with these ones and they could be remaining fruit.

Statistics to Date:

  • 4335 gospel tracts
  • 470 Bibles
  • 444 people contacted
  • 5 prayed
  • 21 second appointments
  • 1 regular appointment

Thank you for you prayers!

Thank you for your prayers! The Lord is surely moving in Richmond. Yesterday, we continued our sowing labor on the campus and in the community. We’ve also had some sweet second appointments with students who are seeking and hungry for fellowship with other believers. The Lord sovereignly brought them to us, and we believe that there are still more He wants to reach. At the end of the night, we had a glorious group fellowship in a home. We sang with open hearts and released spirits to the Lord, and afterwards listened to a word about God’s eternal purpose! When it came time for the students to respond in their smaller groups, their sharing showed that many of them saw something of God’s economy. Praise the Lord! He is faithfully operating. We cooperate, and He completes the work He has prepared.

Prayer Burdens:

  • For the Lord to continue sowing, releasing 2nd appointments, and establishing strong connections with key contacts
  • That many would attend this weekend’s seminar on the book of John and be satisfied with God’s life
  • For all the saints to continue in the labor, while resting in His presence and enjoying His rich grace

Statistics:

  • 540 gospel tracts
  • 66 Bibles
  • 76 people contacted
  • 5 second appointments
