Lexington, KY—Gospel Trip, Report 6

February 5, 2020

Please continue to pray for the Lord’s move in Lexington! We started the day with morning coordination with the team. Two visiting brothers from Chicago gave us fellowship on how the overflow of life is our work. Rest and enjoy first. We rest in Christ and enjoy Him as our source. The partaking and enjoying of the bountiful supply of the Spirit will result in the overflow of life. So our gospel work is not a sense of doing things, but just an overflow of what we have enjoyed in our spirit!

We moved to a new location for our Bibles for America (BfA) tabling and distribution on the campus of the University of Kentucky (UK). While today was the slowest day of traffic at the table, we met with contacts from last week’s tabling for appointments. It was refreshing to meet and engage with the seeking students again, to get to know them personally and spiritually, and to have fellowship with them. We also had dinner on campus and some of us grabbed dinner with some students. We met with a student for dinner whom we met through our BfA table. Since this was our first time meeting with her, we spent most of the time getting to know her as a person, as a student, and as a Christian. She grew up in a home with Christianity accepted only for moral and ethical standards. Due to a friendship, she continued to go to church and was saved and baptized as a teenager. We were encouraged to see a young student have such an aspiration to pursue the Lord. Through our conversation with her, we saw that she did not have much basis of what being a Christian was but was wanting to know more about it and asking about our experiences. As time is becoming limited, we are hoping to have a second contact with these students. May the Lord continue His blessing in the campus outreach and our appointments with the students in UK!

Statistics:

  • Bibles distributed: 15
  • Basic Elements of the Christian Life distributed: 10
  • Appointments: 6

Prayer Burdens:

  • Pray that the Lord release more appointments with the students that we contacted during our campus time in UK
  • Pray for the follow up contact with the students we met with and connecting them to the local saints in Lexington.
  • Pray that the Lord will continue to cover and strengthen the health of all the trainees, full-time serving ones, and the local saints.
  • Pray for the Bible studies this upcoming week on Wednesday and Thursday.

Dinner on UK campus

Columbia, SC—Gospel Trip, Report 3

February 5, 2020

Thursday was our last day of BfA tabling and gospel strolling. We also had a few appointments with some of the students that we met this week who are very open. The very last student we met at the BfA table was a believer and was seeking Christian fellowship, so we invited her and another student to a saint’s home for dinner and singing with the sisters. She thoroughly enjoyed the time, took a songbook home with her, and came back on Saturday for another dinner and fellowship. Please pray that she would continue seeking the Lord and fellowshipping with the saints!

The saints in Columbia recently started a weekly Saturday dinner and fellowship for the students. Three new ones that we contacted, as well as one of their mothers, showed up this past Saturday. We had already left Columbia by then, but the saints in Columbia reported that it was a sweet time. We were all very encouraged that a few open students were able to experience the enjoyment of the Lord in an open home so close to campus. The concluding feeling of our time at the University of South Carolina is that there are many students who are open and seeking to know God’s purpose that will benefit from getting connected with the saints, the Word, and the ministry. There is a great need of a full-time team to be raised up here to continue the labor on this campus.

On Friday afternoon, our gospel team traveled from Columbia to Conyers, Georgia for the Southeast College Conference. One hundred twenty registrants from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina came together for the weekend to see “The Vision of the Church.” It was an encouraging time to see students from all different campuses blending together and corporately pursuing the Lord’s purpose. On Lord’s Day morning, three students were baptized into the Body of Christ!

Statistics:

  • Bibles: 394
  • Tracts: 610
  • Contacted: 144

Prayer Burdens:

  • For a full-time team to be raised up to continue the labor on the University of South Carolina campus.
  • That the three students that came to Saturday night dinner in Columbia, including all that were contacted last week, would be connected with the saints and continue to receive care.
  • For the propagation of the Word in Athens through the Bible distribution and the ministry.

Richmond, VA—Gospel Trip, Report 3

February 4, 2020

Thank you all for your prayers and for standing with us as we labor in Richmond. We had a sweet time passing out Bibles, tracts, and seminar flyers at VCU and at city hall today! We also began to have appointments with those we met during our distributions these past two days. It is so encouraging to see the hungry seekers that the Lord has sovereignly with connected us. Today, we had two people come up to the table to receive a Bible and say sincerely, “I need this”. We also had two home meetings this evening that were filled with much singing, prayer and fellowship!

Prayer Burdens:

  • That the Lord would bless all the follow-up contact and shepherding.
  • That the Lord would bring many tomorrow to the college group fellowship meeting.
  • That no one would be burnt out but each one would take the Lord as their constant supply.

Statistics:

  • Tracts distributed: 932
  • Bibles distributed: 118
  • People contacted: 125
  • Second appointments: 4

Richmond, VA—Gospel Trip, Report 2

February 4, 2020

Praise the Lord for all that He has been doing in Richmond, especially on VCU’s (Virginia Commonwealth University) campus! Today was our second day passing out free Bibles and tracts to those on the campus and in the community. Through our distribution of over 1100+ tracts and 110 Bibles today alone, we could really see that there was a deep thirst in the city for something real—Christ!

Two of the students we met yesterday while preaching the gospel joined the Bible study on campus today! As we were reading chapter 2 of John, we really saw that the Lord isn’t satisfied with moral regulations and self-reform, but that He came to change death into life.

Statistics for 1/28:

Tracts distributed: 1103
Bibles distributed: 110
People contacted: 107
Prayed to receive the Lord: 1
Appointments: 1

Prayer Burdens:

  1. Each one who received a Bible or a tract would take the time to read it.
  2. Many of our new contacts would join the college meeting on Thursday night and the mini conference on the gospel of John this coming weekend!
  3. The Lord would keep the trainees and local saints healthy during this time, especially as the weather continues to cool down.
