Jackson, MS/Birmingham, AL—Gospel Trip, Report 12

February 8, 2019

Today, we had another day of tabling at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB)! Although we had less people signing up at the table, a total of 5 gave us their contact information, most of the trainees had an appointment today with the ones whom we contacted on Monday. The Lord has truly blessed us! Just today, we had 4 appointments with those whom we met on Monday, with around 3 more planned appointments for the rest of the week. This is all from one day of tabling and reaching out to students.

The appointments today were all very positive, and we really saw how seeking these students are. One particular student shared how she wants to put the Lord at the center of her life and how she always practices to tell the Lord whatever is on her heart. Two of them also expressed interest to join the home meeting this friday!

Our evening ended by fighting for all of these students at the prayer meeting. The saints exercised to pray for the ones whom we had contacted and the ones who are currently being contacted.

Prayer Burdens:

  • Pray for the release of the students so that some could come to the Bible study tomorrow and the home meeting this Friday.
  • That Christ will be revealed in them by the Word becoming living and operative in them.
  • Pray for the Bible study tomorrow; for the Word, for the speaking, and for the ones attending.

The Lord has really been faithful to bring His sons of peace to these tables. They are open and hungry for the word. A student at Fresno State University said that she loves the Word but because her Bible is too big and heavy, she wrote flash cards to carry around and look over the Word when she needs to. She was impressed how easy the Recovery Version was to understand and enjoyed reading the footnotes on Philippians. As she got her own Bible, she realized her friend who next to her was also there receiving one. The sisters then asked her if she would lead her friend to receive the Lord. All the sisters read the prayer together and both gave their information for further contact.

Burnaby, Canada—Gospel Trip, Report 5

February 8, 2019

Feb 5th, 2019
We had coordination in the morning concerning the tabling and some new ones we have been contacting. We also briefly went through the morning revival this week together along with all the verse references.

We had two tables in SFU during the afternoon time at two different locations among the campus for handing out Bible and gospel meeting invitations. We have handed out invitations and Bibles, and also met a few open ones who are seeking and interested in the gospel event on February 7. In the evening time, we joined the saints in Burnaby for the prayer meeting in the Burnaby meeting hall. We prayed about the entire GTCA and to really stir up an atmosphere in Burnaby concerning the burden for more visitation.

Feb 6th, 2019
Some of us joined the Bible study at SFU campus. There was one new student (student S), who has been coming to the Bible study consistently for the past two semesters and she brought a friend (student L) to the Bible study. It was very encouraging. Pray for more connection with the core students.

Stats
-1747 invitations and 23 Bibles distributed on SFU campus (Feb 5 to 7) -11 homes visited so far this week

Prayer Burdens:

  • More visitations among the saints, with an atmosphere of love
  • New students to come to the gospel meeting at SFU tonight (Feb 7) and remaining fruit after the gospel meeting
  • Specific students:
  • Student S- pray for regular appointment with full-timers
  • Student S- also for regular appointment and openness to receive the Lord
  • Student S- for coming to Bible studies on campus regularly, connection to the core students

Palo Alto, CA—Gospel Trip, Report 6

February 7, 2019

February 2
This past Saturday evening, we had the wonderful opportunity to speak with around 70 South Bay Area young people about the training. We spoke on coming into the church life, the training schedule, lessons learned in the training, and the reasons why we decided to give ourselves to serve the Lord by attending the Full-Time Training. The responsible brothers felt to take this opportunity because unlike the young people in Southern California, they are less exposed to the training. The time concluded with the young people splitting into junior high and high school for overflow from reading The Living and Practical Way to Enjoy Christ. It was truly a watering and mutually-encouraging time.

February 5
Today, we learned again that the work is the Lord’s and not ours. Our job is primarily to cooperate by praying. This morning, before the saints going out to the community left, a woman came to the Palo Alto meeting hall, inquiring if it was a church. A young Brazilian woman, she had been looking for a church and had been feeling lonely and isolated. A sister quickly and earnestly shared to this woman that she was home. She had found the church. After inviting her to pass out gospel tracts and later to lunch, she felt very comfortable with the sisters and wants to come this Lord’s Day. Praise the Lord!

Prayer Burdens:

  • Pray the Lord would meet His own need by bringing a full-time serving team to Stanford and Palo Alto.
  • Pray for the formation of the two’s and three’s as contacting groups for the follow-up of the student and community contacts.
  • Pray and praise the Lord for the fostering of the next generation in the Lord’s recovery, particularly in the South Bay.

Jackson, MS/Birmingham, AL—Gospel Trip, Report 11

February 7, 2019

Today, the brothers accompanied a local full-timer to two appointments with college students. Our time was spent getting to know them and talking about their daily activities. After that, we read the Word (John 14 and Psalm 119 respectively) and talked about our enjoyment of what we read. While we were with them, we realized that they are truly seeking to get to know the Bible not just in a superficial way but in a deep way. We need to pray that their spirit will be enlivened to get the Rhema out of the Logos.

As the brothers were doing this, the sisters spent time texting student contacts obtained from yesterday’s tabling and also hung door-hangers advertising the ministry radio station in the nearby neighborhood. Praise the Lord that among the sisters’ contacts, three have already agreed to meet-up with the sisters for appointments later this week!

Finally, in the evening time we joined the children’s service coordination meeting. We were deeply touched because the saints are burdened for the children to know the stories from the Bible and to develop in their character. It was discussed in the meeting that for the next few weeks they will be sharing on the stories of Joseph with the children. May the Lord sanctify all these young ones for His purpose.

Prayer Burdens:

  • That the Lord will bless all the appointments with the new ones in UAB this week and release many more replies from the contacts from the tabling
  • That the children in Birmingham, AL will be sanctified by the Lord for His purpose and that He would bless all the children’s meetings
  • That the Lord will bless the tabling at UAB tomorrow and that many students will attend the Bible study on Thursday
