Reports
Wickliffe, OH—Gospel Trip, Days 4-5
Thank you all for your prayers! We are on our 3rd day distributing Bibles. So far we have distributed 386 Bibles. Out of those 386 who have received a Bible, 207 shared their contact information for follow up. Praise the Lord!
It is marvelous to enter into the labor with the saints here in Wickliffe. We had a student from Cleveland State University come to the table to receive a copy of the Recovery Version, however that same evening while riding on the bus back home someone stole his copy. He came back the following day to claim a new copy. A feeling of hunger for the word was expressed in this campus. In another occasion, a student came for a Bible study and wants to be connected to the saints. Hallelujah!
The distribution is marvelous but we have to be reminded that Satan hates the work that we are doing. There has been opposition towards the distribution of the Recovery Version.
Prayer burdens:
- A Bible study club to be established both at Cleveland State and Western Reserve University
- For Bible recipients to be open for follow-up contact For the binding of Satan from every negative opposition and negative speaking on the campuses.
- We will be having a seminar this coming Friday and we desire many to come to this time, please pray that the Lord will free many students’ schedules so that they can come.
Santa Rosa/Novato, CA—Gospel Trip, Day 5
Praise the Lord, two students joined us for a short Bible study today at Sonoma State University (SSU)! One of them is a very genuine seeker and he is currently a senior at SSU. We also had an appointment with a Catholic girl who received a Bible on Monday. She is very interested in reading the Bible and we scheduled a Bible study with her tomorrow. As of today we have 61 people who are open for further contact and many are interested in reading the Bible. The general feelings of the saints is that the harvest is great at SSU but the workers few. May the Lord gain some core ones during this gospel trip and continually supply all the local saints.
We revisited the three young men (two current students and one recently graduated) who live blocks away from the saints’ house. Although none of them were home, the Lord sovereignly arranged us to meet with their other roommate, and now we’ve met all the four students in this house. We invited them for dinner at the saints’ house and the team plans to introduce them to some young trainee brothers tomorrow. May the Lord truly warm their hearts and gain this group of young men!
Prayer burdens:
- The Lord will gain five core students and 15 solid contacts by the end of the gospel trip and that these students will enjoy and remain in the church life and be captured by a controlling vision of God’s economy.
- Tomorrow is the club fair of SSU. Please pray for many students to be draw by the Lord. We will have a college meeting this Friday night and continue the on-spot 20 minutes Bible studies every weekday. Please pray that the Lord will supply each trainee and serving ones abundantly, and release many seekers to join and see His heart desire.
- Please pray that the Lord would burden some young saints, families, and serving ones to move to this white field.
Salt Lake City, UT—Gospel Trip, Days 5-6
Thank you all for your prayers. Apart from Him, we really can do nothing. We are merely here to present our bodies. Not much has changed in our day-to-day activities. On Tuesday, after a vitalizing coordination, we departed for campus where we distributed 196 Bible study invitations and three gospel tracts; three students signed up at our table. We met a decent number of students who either expressed interest in attending the Bible study or affirmed that they would, as well as six students who were open to further contact. In that evening’s prayer meeting, which consisted of 12 attendees, we spent much time praying over these contacts, name by name.
Wednesday, after another vital coordination, we left for campus, where 28 flyers were distributed and two students signed up at the table. We had three appointments with students today (two additional appointments had canceled), of which one agreed to come to this Friday’s home meeting. In the evening, we had dinner and team fellowship at the meeting hall.
Again, our labor here is truly upheld by prayers of all the saints. There is a marked difference between days that we give to much prayer and days that we don’t. Divine appointments happen, and we are just flowed through our labor. It was not until we prayed for people to come to the table that people came, and it was not until we prayed for contacts that contacts were made. Today, we also met with a girl who was so refreshed that in the midst of the dominating prevalence of Mormonism, the Lord led her to a group of Christians on campus with whom she could read the Bible. We invited her to this Friday’s home meeting and she is excited to come.
Prayer burdens:
- Bible study: Please continue to pray for tomorrow night’s Bible study. We will be going over the book of Romans. We will also use this time to gauge our energy expenditure among our contacts for our remaining time here. Please pray not only for numbers (keeping in mind that there is very limited manpower here outside of GTCA), but for ones who would remain, and for the spiritual discernment in caring for them.
- Appointments: Again, please pray not just for numbers, but for ones who would remain. We have also had some promising ones cancel; pray the Lord would secure a solid time for them. Specifically, pray for the time at the home meeting for the student we met today and for a secured and guarded time with A.
- Campus work: Possibly the greatest need here is a means for shepherding. There have been many saved, but many that have also left. There are no full-time serving ones and not enough students and community saints available to care for new ones. Pray to gain ones who would reproduce themselves and that more saints would rise up to shepherd.
Fargo, ND/Minneapolis, MN—Gospel Trip, Days 3-4
Tonight we had dinner at a couple’s home who are friends of one of the local sisters. They spent a brief amount of time with the team that visited during the 2014 gospel trip but haven’t been very responsive since then. However, they were willing to have us all over to their home for dinner, singing and fellowship. He and his wife left their denomination but are not currently meeting with anyone. This is one quote from the brother, “Our house will never be the same. You have raised the whole spiritual atmosphere of this house. The Lord is here.”
Tuesday was our first day with a gospel table at two campuses, North Dakota State University (NDSU) and Minnesota State University at Moorhead (MSUM). At NDSU fourteen Bibles were given out and four people received the Lord! Specifically, one junior nursing student, a close friend of a local nursing student, received the Lord in a definite way. He is open to a follow-up appointment this week. At MSUM five Bibles were given out. One student walked up to the table and received a Bible. She is open for a follow up appointment for Thursday (1/29) and invited her friend who may or may not be saved. Later on in the day she sent this to one of the trainees, “I can’t wait to share experiences about God. I love seeing how He works in other people’s lives.” Another brother contact is open for a Bible study tomorrow (1/28).
Prayer burdens:
- For the couple whose home we visited to attend the mini conference this weekend and make a full transfer into the reality of the kingdom of the heavens.
- The schedule of the junior nursing student would free up for a further appointment and that he would be baptized!
- The Lord would fill the NDSU Bible seminar Wednesday night with much fruit! Especially that these four saved ones would be able to attend. The topic is the Key to Experiencing Christ: The Human Spirit.
- The Lord would infuse life into the MSUM appointments on Wednesday with the two open students.
Santa Rosa/Novato, CA—Gospel Trip, Day 4
Twenty local saints and serving ones from Northern California joined us today, and we continued the gospel outreach on Sonoma State University (SSU) and the nearby communities. We are very encouraged that the Lord is so faithful to guide and lead us through our prayers. This is our second day out at SSU, and so far there are 26 students open for further contact and 21 people from the community open to have us come back to their house to deliver the Bible to them. Among these 47 contacts, 13 of them prayed with us and received the Lord, and 13 students are interested in joining a Bible study.
Activity highlights:
- Two sisters had our first appointment with a freshman Christian sister who we met yesterday at the table. The sisters had a very enjoyable time together. This student is very open and would like to join us for dinner this Friday. Please pray that she can make it to the dinner this Friday and be well connected with the saints.
- The sister’s two friends that we met on 1/25 and 1/26 came for dinner tonight and we spent about an hour after dinner singing to the Lord. Please continue to pray that life will grow in these two friends, preserve them in the church life, and the Lord will continue building up the companionship of these three freshmen sisters.
- Yesterday the door-knocking team met with three students who live across the street from campus and the house is only several blocks away from the saint’s house. Two of them prayed and received the Lord. We revisited them today to deliver the Bibles, and they appreciated the footnotes very much. They are open to have a bible study with the saints. Please pray for the follow up contact with them. May the Lord open up the opportunity to have a small bible study at their house.
Prayer burdens:
- Please continue praying for the gospel outreach on the SSU campus and the nearby community, that the gospel will reach out to people in an unhindered way, that many hearts will turn from darkness to light and life.
- We can invite our contacts for dinner at the saint’s house every day during these two weeks. Please pray that the Lord will gain some core students to have a taste of the sweet church life and be captured by the controlling vision of God’s economy.
- We are very encouraged that many students are interested in joining a Bible study, but with our current capacity we can only provide one Bible study each week. It is a challenge to fit everyone’s schedule. Please pray that the Lord would lead us and sovereignly arrange the best time and location for this semester’s Bible study.
- Also pray that the Lord would burden some young saints and families to move to this white field.
